random musings and things that tickle my fancy

I’ve always been a little, umm, curvy shall we say? Even when I was at my slimmest, I had a lot of muscle – thick wid it.

When Tory and I got engaged at the end of July last year, I was determined to look good in my wedding gown. I planned to start my diet & exercise routine one year from our wedding, but it didn’t quite work out that way. October rolled around and I was lacking motivation. I went to the gym for a bit but I absolutely HATE going to the gym. It’s the getting there that’s the worst part for me. I finally got into a routine after the first of the year.

I started with a diet that my mom recommended – The Flat Belly Diet. This worked for me for about a month, but I hate having so many restrictions on what I eat. I prefer to just eat sensibly rather than dieting. And I’ve been doing pretty good. But the real turning point for me was when I bought a treadmill. I figured that since the GETTING to the gym was the hardest part for me, why not bring the gym to me?! Plus, Costco had a screaming deal on this Reebok treadmill – I got it for $499 in late February. Ever since then, I’ve been working my butt off – running/walking for 35 minutes, 5 days a week (Sunday through Thursday).

When I weighed myself this morning, I was excited to see that I’d lost a total of 20 pounds! This is a bit of a milestone – even though I still have a lot more to go! Here’s a scary before pic (taken at Christmas):

I know it’s not a full body shot, but you can really see the weight in my face. And this is me now (well, this was taken a couple weeks ago anyway):
