My bridal shower was this past Saturday, and it was SO. MUCH. FUN! I loved every minute of it. It was held at Connie’s house (my future mother-in-law), and was hosted and organized by her, Sandra (maid of honor), Jessica (bridesmaid and Tory’s sister) and my mom. The food was fantastic, the music was great and it was also quite entertaining! It was really incredible to be surrounded by women that love and support Tory and me.
My favorite part (and a HUGE hit with everyone) was the video trivia that Tory and Jessica put together. Jessica came up with 15 questions about Tory (what’s your favorite meal, favorite song, favorite memory of you and Erica, etc.), and I had to guess what his answer would be. The ladies then had to guess if I had gotten it correct or not, and Jess would show the answer in Tory’s own words on the DVD he had made.
Let me tell you something…it was A LOT harder than I thought it would be. And besides, Tory cheated. For instance, for the question “what’s your least favorite vegetable” I said, “mushrooms” with confidence, because he HATES them. His answer was “Brussel sprouts…because mushrooms are a FUNGUS!” WTF?!
Anyway, it turned out pretty funny and I was honestly surprised at some of his answers (he said my best quality is that I give people the benefit of the doubt; and I guessed….smile?). That and the question about his favorite memory of us made me cry…so it got a little emotional, too. At the end, Jess showed a little slideshow he had put together of photos of the two of us throughout our courtship to the tune of our song (Brand New Colony by The Postal Service). The whole thing was really, really sweet. The great part about it was that I think it really gave everyone a deeper insight into our relationship and kind of got them pumped up about our wedding! It was truly a great day.
And now, the pics (all taken by the fantastic Jennifer Bishop)!
I have entered A LOT of wedding-related giveaways over the course of our engagement, and up to this point, I haven’t won any. That didn’t stop me from entering more and I’m glad it didn’t, because apparently today is my lucky day! I just got an email from Jeannie over at Project Wedding that I won 100 custom notecards and envelopes from Bird and Banner! The crazy thing is that this has been their most popular contest to date. I am so unbelievably excited; I still have goosebumps! Of all the giveaways to win, I am so thrilled at this one because Bird and Banner creates incredibly unique and AMAZING stationery. I love that their work has handcrafted elements and each piece is reflective of the couple. Here are some of my favorites from their portfolio:

I can’t wait to start the designing process with them…I’ll keep you all posted on the final result!

I wanted a creative and colorful way to display our escort cards, but was limited because we aren’t allowed to put holes in the walls at our venue, which means hanging anything was out. I really wanted to do something like these:

(photos from the knot)
There is a long, narrow table at the entrance, and we thought that would be the perfect place to display the cards. I came up with the idea of using old picture frames and placing them side by side horizontally on the table, using colorful fabrics in the center of the frames.

For those of you who aren’t completely obsessed with weddings, Style Me Pretty is the crème de la crème of wedding blogs. Abby Larson, the brains and creativity behind this beautiful blog recently held an inspiration board contest. Readers were asked to submit an inspiration board designed around a dress in their new site feature; The Look Book. My board, inspired by the Monique Lhuillier gown, Kendahl was featured on the blog today. And although I didn’t win the prize (a $250 gift card to Crate & Barrel), I’m still happy that my board made it up on my favorite wedding blog!
Here’s my board, in case you don’t feel like clicking over. I don’t really feel like re-typing all of the photo credits, so you’ll have to visit SMP for those.
