So as you’ve probably realized by now, Tory and I are the opposite of traditional and not at all superstitious, and our wedding was no exception. We spent the night before our wedding together (gasp!) at the Larkspur Landing in Roseville. It was fun. We watched Rudy on television. Random, I know. I thought that I would have a hard time sleeping that night, like a kid on Christmas Eve, but I slept surprisingly well.
The next morning, Tory went over to his parents’ house to get ready with the boys and I stayed at the hotel. I actually had some alone time which was kind of cool. I was half watching football (yes, we were married on a Sunday during football season, much to Tory’s chagrin), and half freaking out. Slowly, the girls started to trickle in.
First to arrive was my hairstylist, Elli, who I love (Elli, I love you!). She worked her magic on my hair (which I also LOVED). Here she is helping me put on eyeliner. I don’t typically wear eyeliner, so this was a big help.
Applying a 2nd (or maybe 3rd) coat of mascara. I had originally wanted false eyelashes but was too scared to do it on my own. I looked into hiring a pro makeup artist, but decided against it. That was surprisingly one of the hardest decisions I had to make during the planning process – do I hire a makeup artist, or do I do it myself? Who woulda thought?

My seester, Liz.
My BFF and Maid of Honor, Sandra. Isn’t she beautiful?
The bridesmaids and my mom’s gifts. All of the girls got a custom jewelry roll with her initial from here and either earrings or a necklace. My mom got earrings and a handkerchief embroidered with her initials, our wedding date, and ‘mother of the bride’.
Putting on my veil, which turned out to be quite the process. I had originally intended on taking it off after the ceremony, but there were so many bobby pins that I was afraid to mess with it. To be honest, I kind of forgot it was on my head! Sometimes you just have to go with the flow, especially on your wedding day.

This is me trying to read the card that Tory got for me. I couldn’t do it, I was too emotional. But Rochelle took a photo of me holding it for good measure.
And then we were off! There were some ‘wardrobe malfunctions’ that became an issue with my sister’s dress, but I was very adamant about leaving on time. Once we arrived at the venue, I became completely calm. All the nerves just disappeared and actual excitement set in. The rest of the girls may not have been in the same mind frame, but Jessica, Tory’s sister, stepped up and saved the day. She actually ended up sewing my sister into her dress (the zipper had broken)! It just goes to show you that in the end, something will go wrong on your wedding day, but I promise you, it won’t be the end of the world.
I’ll be posting more pics (hopefully in sequence) soon!
