After our First Look and Family Portraits, Rochelle snapped some photos of just me and the lovely ladies around the venue and in the bridal suite.
Here we are walking to the barn:

After our outdoor session, we headed back to the bridal suite as guests arrived for the ceremony. Here’s Jocelyn playing with her pomander.

So as you’ve probably realized by now, Tory and I are the opposite of traditional and not at all superstitious, and our wedding was no exception. We spent the night before our wedding together (gasp!) at the Larkspur Landing in Roseville. It was fun. We watched Rudy on television. Random, I know. I thought that I would have a hard time sleeping that night, like a kid on Christmas Eve, but I slept surprisingly well.
The next morning, Tory went over to his parents’ house to get ready with the boys and I stayed at the hotel. I actually had some alone time which was kind of cool. I was half watching football (yes, we were married on a Sunday during football season, much to Tory’s chagrin), and half freaking out. Slowly, the girls started to trickle in.
First to arrive was my hairstylist, Elli, who I love (Elli, I love you!). She worked her magic on my hair (which I also LOVED). Here she is helping me put on eyeliner. I don’t typically wear eyeliner, so this was a big help.

Applying a 2nd (or maybe 3rd) coat of mascara. I had originally wanted false eyelashes but was too scared to do it on my own. I looked into hiring a pro makeup artist, but decided against it. That was surprisingly one of the hardest decisions I had to make during the planning process – do I hire a makeup artist, or do I do it myself? Who woulda thought?

My bridal shower was this past Saturday, and it was SO. MUCH. FUN! I loved every minute of it. It was held at Connie’s house (my future mother-in-law), and was hosted and organized by her, Sandra (maid of honor), Jessica (bridesmaid and Tory’s sister) and my mom. The food was fantastic, the music was great and it was also quite entertaining! It was really incredible to be surrounded by women that love and support Tory and me.
My favorite part (and a HUGE hit with everyone) was the video trivia that Tory and Jessica put together. Jessica came up with 15 questions about Tory (what’s your favorite meal, favorite song, favorite memory of you and Erica, etc.), and I had to guess what his answer would be. The ladies then had to guess if I had gotten it correct or not, and Jess would show the answer in Tory’s own words on the DVD he had made.
Let me tell you something…it was A LOT harder than I thought it would be. And besides, Tory cheated. For instance, for the question “what’s your least favorite vegetable” I said, “mushrooms” with confidence, because he HATES them. His answer was “Brussel sprouts…because mushrooms are a FUNGUS!” WTF?!
Anyway, it turned out pretty funny and I was honestly surprised at some of his answers (he said my best quality is that I give people the benefit of the doubt; and I guessed….smile?). That and the question about his favorite memory of us made me cry…so it got a little emotional, too. At the end, Jess showed a little slideshow he had put together of photos of the two of us throughout our courtship to the tune of our song (Brand New Colony by The Postal Service). The whole thing was really, really sweet. The great part about it was that I think it really gave everyone a deeper insight into our relationship and kind of got them pumped up about our wedding! It was truly a great day.
And now, the pics (all taken by the fantastic Jennifer Bishop)!
