random musings and things that tickle my fancy

Here’s a sneak peek at what’s going on with my office these days.

The rug arrived several weeks ago, and I love it! And so does Walter :)

It is so plush and cushy underfoot!

The painting is also done. The color I chose was Behr’s Pyramid Gold. We painted the ceiling this time…something that I don’t normally do (I usually keep it white). It’s taken some getting used to, but I do think the color is quite beautiful. It’s the one on the bottom right in this photo:

I purchased some Kvartal hardware, along with some curtain panels from our favorite Swedish super store, which Tory and I used to to create a sliding curtain that “hides” our treadmill when it’s not in use (which is all too often, by the way!).

I made a few purchases, including this gorgeous pendant light and this desk chair from Overstock:

We stained and hung some shelves.

And painted the bookshelf:

And I started to reupholster my “dumpster” chair:

See that letterpress print in the background? Cute, right? I got it on Etsy (where else?), and it’s from Eight Hour Day, who has the cutest packaging I’ve ever seen!

Here is the fabric I chose (from Joann’s in-store) for the chair:

We also checked out the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in our area in for the first time a few weeks ago. Have you guys heard of these? The one near us is a giant warehouse full of leftover building supplies – paint, furniture, windows, you name it! And while we didn’t find anything for the office specifically, I spotted this awesome mirror for 5 bucks!

It is now hanging in our bathroom (where it looks quite at home), and the boring black one that was in the bathroom before got a paint update and was moved into the office.

It’s coming right along! I will be sharing more of the reupholstering process (and oh, is it a process!), soon!

I started this blog to share my wedding ideas and inspiration, as well as photos and projects from my special day. Now the wedding fever has passed; and I’m on to obsess about other things in life! Don’t worry, I still have some wedding photos and projects to share. I am not abandoning blogging; I do enjoy the outlet of writing and sharing my inspiration and ideas. I hope that the few readers I have will hang in there, and who knows – maybe I’ll gain a few new ones in the process!

You may have noticed the name change in the header: Eksquisite Design Blog. Eksquisite Design is the name of my personal site and business. The word is spelled incorrectly because at the time, my initials were “EKS” which made that cool “x” sound :) I still like the name so I’m keeping it!

I anticipate sharing a collection of things on this blog that are inspiring me at any given moment (which could include wedding-related posts, as I am still very much inspired by weddings). Other, non-wedding related things that interest me are: interior design, graphic design (always), gardening, dogs, and cooking; so expect to see more posts on those topics.

I set a goal for myself this year to re-design my personal website and open an Etsy shop (a daunting task!), so look for updates on those. One of the  things I learned throughout wedding planning  was that I really enjoy designing wedding stationery and hope to extend that service to a larger audience through Etsy! I hope you stick around for changes in this wonderful ride that is life!
